Yuma County School Districts have partnered with the Phoenix Teaching Fellows, an innovative program designed to close the achievement gap by recruiting and training career changers and recent college graduates to become full-time, effective teachers in Yuma County School Districts starting in the fall.
Recently, the Army Corps of Engineers began the slow, controlled release of water from Painted Rock Dam to the Lower Gila River. As the water travels into Yuma County, the flow will flood certain roads that either cross the Gila River, or washes that are fed from the Gila River. These temporary closures will continue until the high level of water is relieved from Painted Rock Dam. Nine bridges will remain open to traffic.
Yuma County Clerk of the Superior Court, Jeffrey Mangis, has announced his office is joining the Department of State in celebrating Passport Day in the USA 2010, a national passport acceptance and outreach event. A Passport Fair will be held at the Yuma County Courthouse, 250 W 2nd Street on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications.
